GolfBIC 2014 – The Golf Business & Industry Convention - drew to a close on Tuesday March 11th at the Forest of Arden Hotel & Country Club, Warwickshire. This was most recent collaboration between OGRO and the UKGCOA and has been hailed as the most successful event yet. All of the seminars were well attended and well received, the exhibition was popular and business was brisk, whilst the charity dinner in the evening raised nearly £6500 for The Golf Foundation. On the second day, the AGM for the UKGCOA was held, followed by four excellent workshops, a VAT tax update and, finishing the day, there was an excellent summary of the forthcoming National Golf Month activities from founder Doug Poole.
Sadly, OGRO Honorary President, John Jacobs OBE, could not join us this year due to ill health. The convention delegates sent their best wishes for a speedy recovery to John along with their hopes that he would be able to join the event in 2015.
Copies of presentations made during GolfBIC are available on the Presentations menu tab.
Sell out for the Golf Business and Industry Convention 2014
The Golf Business Industry Convention (GolfBIC) was formed just three years ago, through collaboration with the UKGCOA and OGRO. The idea of the event was to give those involved in delivering golf as a sport the opportunity to get together, learn more, see more, and discuss everything they need to on an annual basis. GolfBIC is also the home for the UKGCOA AGM. The design of the event is simple: a tabletop exhibition, a range of interesting and stimulating seminars, a charity dinner, and some great workshops the following morning. These ingredients are stirred together with generous helpings of free time, which provide the perfect opportunity to network and chat with old friends and new. Judging by the fact that this year’s event was so well attended, it seems to be working, and GolfBIC looks like being a fixture in the golf industry for many years to come.
